MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM JOYCE SEAMONE (LOOKING BACK)
Following the instant success of Testing 1-2-3, the record company rushed me back into the studio to record a Christmas album. I remember the session taking place in the summer. It seemed very strange to be singing Christmas songs at that time of the year and obviously thinking that we needed something to get us “in the mood”, one of the session players came back into the studio, shaking a leather strap filled with bells that he had found elsewhere in the props room. It sort of put a new perspective on things when he began jingling them in time to some of the songs and kind of turned things around. The record company was in such a hurry to get the album pressed and ready for the stores that they didn’t even schedule a new photo shoot. They used my facial shot from my Testing album. I’m not sure how many Christmas albums sold, but I do know it also was a big success.
