Joyce and Yvonne White share a song at a private party, Halifax, summer of 2006. Yvonne is the sister of the late Nova Scotia born, Portia White, who achieved international fame as a black classical concert singer in the 1940's and 1950's.

Portia, legendary vocalist, became the 19th recipient of the Dr Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement Award on Feb. 18th, 2007, at the ECMA Gala Awards Show broadcast live from the Halifax Metro Centre. On behalf of her late sister, Portia, Yvonne accepted the award which is given annually in recognition of an individual who has made a profound and lasting contribution to the Atlantic Canadian Music Industry.
